Mt Two Top Avalanche Accident
Submitted by Doug Chabot on Thu, 2009-09-10 06:44
Mark Staples of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center describes an avalanche that buried and seriously injured a snowmobiler. The avalanche broke on a layer of surface hoar about 15 inches deep on a wind loaded slope. The slope angle is 30 degrees or less except just under the cornice where it is 43 degrees. The victim's hand was showing and his partners found him alive and breathing.
