This natural avalanche was 1 of 2 observed in the Republic Creek drainage just south of Cooke City. It occured on an E aspect and appeared to have broken into older layers of snow. The total snow water equivalent for this area during the recent storm was 3.1 inches (roughly 3 feet of snow). Photo: B. Fredlund
