Widespread collapsing and cracking were observed yesterday on East facing slopes above Middle and Bear Basins. This crack shot 100 ft from the ski tips to the red arrow, and is major sign of instability. Fragile surface hoar crystals buried about 1 ft deep are the problem. Photo: GNFAC
